Each year, Lafarge mines about 7 million tons of limestone from its quarry, just to the west of the high school. Limestone is crushed at the quarry and transported by a conveyor belt east across Route 9W to the cement plant.
The cement plant and limestone quarry will be located on a 580 hectare and a 614 hectare sites respectively both adjacent to Onigbedu Community and the near Itori in Ewekoro LGA, Ogun State, Nigeria (refer to Figure 2 below).
Jamaica: Caribbean Cement plans to raise the production of gypsum and limestone from its quarries. It intends to increase the size of its Halberstadt Gypsum Quarry to 200,000t/yr and build a new 800,000t/yr limestone quarry at Harbour Head, according to the Gleaner newspaper.
